Udemy Courses, are they worth it?

So in this day and age we see a massive amount of Udemy courses on the market some of these costing hundreds of dollars for content by a random dude.
Do you think that in buying these they will actually benefit you in life? I mean do you think they would help you get a job?

I only accept the high courses I coupon to Free just to have them when I share them in Nullus. I think they are pointless unless it's for personal education.
I would never go into a job with my printed Udemy certificate and say I'm qualified in whatever.

As you said, they are helpful for personal education, if you want to learn a new skill or just get better at something. I have never bought a course that was more than about 10 bucks and don't plan on doing it.
I wouldn't never ever go to a job interview with an Udemy Certificate too as I don't think it proves anythin nor do I want to embarass myself.

Before buying one, I would recommend looking at the previews, reading some ratings and looking up the instructor.
To be honest, I doubt that the courses over a 100$ are worth it.

I mean I've looked at them and you can literally tick all the sections and get the certificate. Could do that with 1,000 of them and claim to be a master.
I honestly don't think they are very educational anyways, you are being taught from the teachers perspective and most likely stuff isn't accurate.
Let's not forget half of the information could be outdated, the person selling the course doesn't care about that though.

I think Udemy can give several bases, but in any case nothing beats training.

You can read a court online, if you just read it it's worthless. At the limit you only have the theory.

But Udemy can allow you to have bases and you to consolidate them and improve yourself by training.

I think that distance education, web, is the future of education.

I couldn't agree more. It's great for teaching the core basics of things and allow yourself to improve over time.

What I dont like about many teachers is that they teach you you can do this when doing this, but they arent telling WHY youre doing it. Especially when it comes to coding, they show you a code block and tell you what it does overall but they dont explain what each element of it does. Feels like maths when you dont get anything and just learn a sequence you need to follow without understanding it - and I absolutely cant stand learning something without understanding it thoroughly.
Many only teach you the fundamentals which makes it hard to get really good at it. Practical examples are barely included and youre left thinking What can I do with this knowledge now? What can I code with it? Which realistic projects am I able to do?

Especially coding courses can be outdated which is why I wouldnt rely on that one Udemy Course. For myself, Im doing my own research additionally, making sure that Im not learning something outdated but Im also checking how new the course is, wouldnt buy one that is several years old. Exceptions are courses where the contents arent changing and evolving over time, like lets say piano or drawing courses.

I agree with you 100% on this. The content is there for a basic understanding if you just want to learn the basics then expand on it through research. You would never be able to buy a coding course and come out educated really, guaranteed out of date content, lack of explanations and the end-users knowledge barrier. Some people see this as the way forward all education being online but I'm not too sure on that.

On a side note, one of the highest respected Universitieshere in Scotland actually do online classrooms and it's become a little bit of a success but I don't believe in it.

I have heard about them but personally not tried any myself.

It's great for your personal satisfaction, for jobs? not so much.
