Windows 10 in my opinion, the best OS for all apps/games

In my personal opinion out of linux and windows, windows is more stable to game on compared to the other two as most are made with windows in mind during development and the others are considered secondary from what i understand

Windows is widely supported by almost all the PC game developers and the linux is not. I think with no doubt Windows is the winner.

If we talk about computers than I prefer Windows, but if we talk about phones than I prefer Android(Because of free loading)

windows is the best because everything is getting optimized for windows you can get stuff to work on linux but it is quite alot of hasle if you count os on xbox and playstation i would just say xbox because it is more price effective then windows and most of the games you buy on xbox you can still play if you get a pc

The correct answer is it depends. Windows and Linux are both great operating systems. In terms of gaming linux is better with resource management. Because Linux is better at resource management you will typically see higher FPS on certain games even with windows compatibility layers especially on lower end hardware. Linux gaming has evolved over the years. 5 years ago Linux gaming seemed like a gimmick, now Linux gaming seems like a great choice. I have a dual boot setup with windows 10 and Xubuntu. With Xubuntu I get higher FPS even on higherend hardware because Xubuntu doesn't use as much resources as windows 10. However, not all games work with Linux. Games like Rust or Apex Legends don't work with Linux because of their anti cheat systems.

If you have a low end system try linux distros like Xubuntu or Linux Mint. You will see an improvement in FPS.

This thread should say "what version of windows was best for gaming", which I would say 7. Windows XP would have been my first choice but doesn't have the hardware support I would like
I personally like Windows XP, but 7 is my favorite. I don't think it's a good idea to run an outdated operating system because Windows 7 security updates are no longer available which means your computer is vulnerable to common attacks. Windows XP's security updates were stopped in 2014. There are a lot of exploits with Windows 7 and XP compared to Windows 10 or Linux.

I don't understand why Microsoft stopped updating Windows 7. Windows 7 was a stable and lightweight operating system. Granted Windows 10 does have more DirectX features, but Windows 7 is still a modern OS.

Windows 10 is the defacto standard for gaming despite at lot of it's short comings

All games pretty much are supported on Windows. There are a handful that work on Mac, but the compatibility there is just not on par with Windows. Linux has its fair share and Steam has some cool stuff to do with Linux in terms of support (I'm not that knowledgeable with it though), but generally it's just Windows that is best

I would say Windows in general as more games exist and more or less also developed for that OS. Moreover, they most of the time developed specific for that OS.

While its more than possible, I dont see a reason to game on anything other than windows
