What OS is better for gaming?

Windows. Only because the only thing is does well is play games. Once Linux catches up then Windows will be useless.

Windows, by far, has the most hardware and software support for gaming. Windows also has DirectX 12. While Linux has made great progress in recent years with becoming more useable for gaming, it's still not able to be as optimized as Windows for performance, graphics, and hardware support. Even Valve's SteamOS (a Linux OS) which was designed specifically for gaming regularly underperforms on nearly all benchmarks in comparison to Windows, by a significant amount.

I would say windows, but in the last year there were a dramatical changes in linux video drivers world and lots of people now gaming on linux and very happy about that. It is all about the how upgraded GPU you got there, old GPUs are garbage for linux, so better spend some money and get at least rx580 for good gaming performance.

Most Linux OS's are pretty light in comparison to Windows which is great for gaming. However, most games don't support Linux so it really depends on what games really matter to you and decided between the two.

I'm pretty sure windows would be the best operating system for gaming. Just don't use 8.1, Vista, XP, ME, 98, 95 for new gen games. Highly recommend using Windows 10, or Windows 7.

Windows, without a doubt. OSX.... no..... and linux just lacks support, and is, in addition, can be a lot less user-friendly, even with simple things like wifi card drivers, making it unappealing for many average gamers.
