What a "Developer" Is

So I started this because I have a "friend" that is extremely arrogant that thinks himself as a developer. The thing is, all he knows how to do is set up DarkRP jobs, and config addons, and basic LUA.

I really wish I could name him so no one ever hires him, but I think its best to keep his identity secret.

So I guess my question is, would you even actually call him a "developer"? Or does he just have a huge fucking head.

You can't define a developer by the level of knowledge they have.
If he knows how to do basic lua i'd say he is a lua developer, but not necessarily a fully skilled lua developer.

I guess I really wish that I could explain it better lol, he claims that him making custom jobs is equivalent to that of creating a LUA script from scratch. Idk about that one.

Seems like everybody call themselves developers now, some fucking kind of inflation.
I'd rather say that he's some kind of admin.

Well there is amateur developper , wanna be developpers , pro developpers , inggeneer developpers etc....
So anyone can call himself a "dev" but at what level is he a dev ?

Who is Lua? Seriously Lua is a scripting language...

I didn't mean to start a whole thing lol I mainly just wanted to bitch about how awful he is lol, however the insight everyone is giving is a real eye opener!

That's a meme if you didn't realize. Also I would consider js a lot more of a real language than lua

If he develops on the server's content, he could be considered a developer.
However, that doesn't make him a game developer, script developer or a professional developer.
