CA cert will be missing, no website name next to the green lock, lower browder trust, user warning still shows

Free certificates don't offer much more then the security of SSL, no guarantees or names.

There basically the same but like others have said the paid one most of the time offers insurance for damages.

Nice response and very brief but educative Aventh Wrote:
A paid one will guarantee you a safe certificate and any damages will be covered to an extend. Depending on how much you paid, insurance can reach up to 1 million dollar I believe.

Whether it is free or not, the certificates generated by a CA use different encryption algorithms, but none are better than the other, or because it is paid or free.

You buy a domain, and you ask LetEncrypt for free certificates, and it would have the same level of security as if you bought it for 10 thousand dollars a certificate.

The importance of a certificate is to validate your site, as something valid as a result of certain security measures, such as HTTPS traffic, encrypted communication using the right certificate ... etc.

There's no need to pay for one if you run a small business or private website.
Get a free one.
Bigger corporations may want to pay for certifications, if these are broken its really bad and they usually get compensation money.

Trust and warranty, no need to pay if your project isn't too big.

Enough has been written here about the difference between paid and free SSL certificates. I will write when it is important to use a paid SSL certificate:
1. For online shopping;
2. If the site conducts financial transactions;
3. High online and popular project;
4. Conference user data.
Also, don't forget to pay the rent on time. You can enable special monitoring of the site to monitor the indicators and do not forget to pay the domain and SSL certificate on time.

Absolutely no difference except companies exploiting gullible users, go through either CloudFlare or LetsEncrypt
