Signal is centralised, it's a major drawback.
To insure longterm availability, you need a decentralised network. Have a look to element.

okay so maybe you are not so much of an idiot.

anime girl avataris right, centralized is just as bad. Anytime you have to go through the main server you put yourself at risk, even if there is E2E encryption (signal, whatsapp, protonmail etc). It essentially places you in a category of having something to hide.

They are still able to determine who you are talking to using a relationship map (a metadata type). Just don't be dumb and use your phone number, or a number you created on the same phone when registering for whatever e2e service you seek

If you can trust the people in your circle, you can use tracker-less p2p messaging services that support e2e

Exactly this. It actually kinda sucks because now you will have yet another messaging app on your phone since a handful of people will jump to signal.

the consumers of these telecommunications deserve to have the right to personal privacy. in the eyes of our Silicon Valley overlords, we are the product. our data is the product that is sold between tech conglomerates, thus we facilitated the rise of our new modern day robber Barrons
