I doubt the kids who started playing recently would go back to 1.7.10 or earlier. But older people who started playing maybe 5 years ago probably prefer an earlier version like 1.8 or 1.7.10. I personally think 1.12.2 is the best right now. It has less content than 1.14+ but it is playablewith moreservers, plugins, and mods. And it's still a pretty new version. Not very new but it's not old.
Maybe 1-2 years from now, I think I'll prefer 1.14 because it will probably have as much compatibility with servers, plugins, and mods. It just takes time.

RE: Which Minecraft version was the best? 21-10-2019, 05:33 PM #65 Best for pvp 1.7.10 although I normally play on 1.8.9 for pvp with 1.7 animations mod because 1.7 animations were amazing for pvp. Foreverything else1.14+ because it has added so much more into the game for builders love the new blocks and mobs!
