Why is DarkRP Popular?

The name of the Gamemode dosent make sense, yea you right. However its popular because it works so basic. You join a DarkRP server, You buy a gun, You buy a building, You start building defenses, You setup printers to farm money. Basicly you become rich and maybe can make some friends, create clans/gangs/mafias. The grind faktor about DarkRP isnt really the money its just trying to rule the current map and become the strongest one amoung everyone. Therefor PVP/Raiding is a big aspect of DarkRP.

For me personally when i was younger i loved DarkRP cause i love the pure pvp thats it. Slowly after time my interest changed and i like the Half serously roleplay servers more. As example there is a community called "Perpheads" it has the same aspekt however its coded from scratch and selfmade even the map is selfmade. That shows quality then the gameplay makes more sense because you are not forced to be a criminal, you can even earn good money by working legal jobs so you can get into illegal busniess much better. Even their police system is advanced. Its not totally Police forcused but you can still rankup in the PD and make yourself a name there or become a criminal basicly grow drugs and raid people and even rob people. They still dont do thousand of /me's when performing roleplay. Its just in my opinion a way better gamemode then DarkRP because it still got the core aspect of grinding and making yourself become someone or join a gang and work your way up.

Sadly these days they reach 30-40 people at once wich is quite enough and high but i loved the days when the server reached 60-80 people at once its just so much fun. https://perpheads.com/

i used to find it a lot of fun, but on a lot of them there is a lot of favoritism among admins so i assume what's keeping them popular is mostly the long time players

Its like the best Modern Day Roleplaying Mode that is well made

Purely because most people who play the small servers want to create very funny situations. Most servers are full of Theives and they're just a nightmare.

While I do admit DarkRP can be chaos and hard to roleplay in, it doesnt count for every server

There has been many times when I join a server and stay on for hours having fun and roleplaying!

All servers are different, and things are different. For example, fusion rp (You probably don't know this, since this is a Russian server, like me). If all the other servers are still not to your liking, you can always create your own.

with a good staff and good content it can be very fun

The reason is that people enjoy a great roleplay experience and it's like GTA V.

Well, it's quite interesting to play on it, if you play on servers with interesting add-ons like NX, although the RP is not quite there

I think some people have a sense of the past, most of them don't prefer to spend money, but there are crazy people of course.
