I only trusted one security plugin though we have alternatives.

Sucuri and Wordfence.

it truely depends on the purpose of your use there are a lot and lot of plugins for every other purpose although there are some basic ones too which are needed for every site

Don't just rely on a wordpress plugin. Wordpress security start from your hosting to your password choices. Use a AIO security plugin like Wordfence or iThemes Security and set it up to your needs. And for having a general opinion about possible vulnerabilities check out guides like this:

Definitely can vouch for Wordfence, but the biggest vulnerabilities can usually be found when assessing server configuration. If you use shared hosting I guess that's less of an concern but if you setup your own VPS iI'd try and harden that instead.

all paid? what are you talk about? they all are free but with paid feature. Wordfence is very effective with just free version
