SublimeText with PHP Completions and Linter through Package Control or PHPStorm if you can afford it.

PHPStorm for IDE but Atom or Sublime for text editor, for sure.

PHPStorm is too heavy for old computers, like mine.
I prefer to use Visual Studio Code (He have php debugger, and it's more lightweight than Atom) or Notepad++, everything that have color syntax will be helpful for you.

Note Pad++ ou Sublime text you need nothing else....

NOTHING beats phpstorm. it's amazing, it holds understanding of your code and helps you avoid many mistakes.

I use PSPad for quick editing, I like PHPStorm as IDE.
