Ive heard many bad things about vanguard anticheat and how its has kernel access, do you trust vanguard as the anticheat?

I'm pretty sure Vanguard always crashes "Explorer.exe" in my pc which basically kills desktop window manager and I have to manually create a new task on Task Manager. It's so annoying and it also keeps running in the background with valorant and eats up 25% of my cpu. I hope these bugs get fixed soon.

My friend has had a lot of issues with valorant probably because of it. I don't think riot would do anything bad to it though

Yes, the problem is not with trust.
The problem is that they are not able to do an effective anti-cheat.

Never trust anything that works in kernel level. I am baffled that people still play this game.
