honestly how would i be successful at a youtube channel?

Make some interesting videos, with original content.
Do not make clickbait otherwise people will no more watch you videos !

Do what you like to do and not care about the outcome but the progress.

way to improve,
-be consistence
-improve video quality (HD, stabilised, pretty)
-Dont do what you are bad at
-be patience

You really wanna target whats popping on youtube!
And just be consistent!

Do something unique, like really, i know its basic advice but it works, i managed to rack up 7k views on my vid that way and it felt sick, i did soemthing cool, something new and its an amazing feeling

Try to find a unique trait and stick to it! Im sure with enough time people will find your content enjoyable and it moves from there.

Make good design work so thumbnails and profile pic etc...

Three things : either be beautiful, really talented or really edgy, maybe all three, that's how it works these days

It depends on the type of channel. In general, you want to post something unique and original, and maybe play to youtube's algorithm.
