Nobody knows, nobody will ever know. I hope there is an afterlife.
It is what it is and it ain't what it ain't

i'm honestly too scared of what comes after death that i just hope for an afterlife of some sort. not religious at all, but it would suck for your consciousness to just end like that.

i lost the other guys thread but it brought up a genuine point. what do you guys think happens after death?

personally i think that, well, being dead is equal to not being conscious, and being conscious also gives you the sense of time, so not being conscious = no sense of time

so when people say that it would be "eternal darkness/nothingness" it wouldnt feel eternal, due to not having a sense of time, it would be like dreamless sleeping, but instant, yknow?

agreed

I personally believe in second life. Although im not looking forward to death, these are my beliefs. Other may have a different opinion though.

Do you remember what were you doing before your birth? Same shit.
This is pretty much how I view it. But I also think it isn't the end???

No way to really know but personally I think nothing happens. concept of "heaven" or "hell" don't make sense to me at all but reincarnation would be fun I guess

Nothing. As far as I'm concered you come into the world and you leave just like you started.

i honestly think its the same thing as before birth, just lack of consciousness

Since our consciousness, which is what lets us feel "alive," is a pattern of atoms that constantly changes, I think once we die it just breaks and the essence of "you" disappears. It lasts forever, but since you are no longer there to perceive it, it may as well be instantaneous. If I'm feeling a little more fanciful I might consider that there is perhaps a soul, or something similar to it, that gives us our consciousness and awareness, and when we die the connection between our soul and body breaks. At that point I can't begin to comprehend what there could possibly be, but perhaps without a tether we just melt into the plane of existence that it lives on. Ultimately, we can't know! It's just beyond our comprehension. Fun to think about though!
