I've used most of the big ones (Atom, Sublime, VSCode, a bit of N++) and to tell you the truth, my favourite so far has been VSCode.

As far as N++ is concerned, I haven't played around with it much. It's probably a great editor, but the UI always turned me off and I never got around to configuring a pretty theme. I do like that it's a native app and that it's like under 10MB. I'll likely end up going back to it in a while.

Atom is the slowest garbage I've ever used. But damn, is it pretty. It was the first editor I used when I was getting serious about programming. But if I had it open for an hour or more, it would slowly start getting slower and slower, until there was like a 1s delay between keystrokes when I was typing at full speed. Thing was eating away my memory and leaking all over the place.

Sublime is what I tried next. It actually worked a whole lot better than Atom, still had tons of features, and was decently pretty. The one thing I didn't like about it though was the fact that it was proprietary. I shouldn't have to pay for it, and I also should be able to see the source code. As such, one of my friends eventually told me that VSCode was decent and had linux support, so I made the last switch.

And boy, VSCode was everything I needed. Relatively lightweight, looks beautiful, has all the features of Atom/Sublime, open-source, huge community/market with plugins and themes. Haven't even thought of turning away now that I'm so far into it.

I use Notepad++ for my daily needs and also when I need the help of Macros to do some repetitive job. It is super easy to record macro and then use it.
For coding purposes I use sublime as I believe it has more customization and is friendly for coding environment.

I like notpad++ like a bunch of others have said haha. Free, and I find it really easy to use and sufficient enough to write code in certain languages.
