I use VIM most of the time for two reasons: it's very easy to be productive with it and it's usable in environments that lack X11. The exception is when I work with Java. In that case, I use Eclipse.

Notepad++ best text editor, gets the job done, no problems, no questions asked. Enough features for everything I need without any issues.

Notepad++ because I have the most hours behind it
Sublime 3 and Atom are alright especially with their plugins.

I jump between VIM, Sublime, and Visual Studio a lot.
Starting out I used to exclusively use Notepad++ but back then I was less experienced...

I use Sublime on a daily basis for web applications, even for writing down notes and scrap ideas.

Visual Studio Code has got to be my favorite editor, it's much easier on my eyes and I like the option of having multiple tabs and folders open, along with the occasional hints when I forget a pseudo and what not.
