They just get so boring and pointless most of the time. You run around and it mostly involves fetch quests. I'm burned out on open world games, starting to go back to older more linear games.

well I think it depends on the company that made the game. Look at Horizon Z

well I think it depends on the publisher. Look at Horizon Zero Dawn, a open world with so much to do and Explore. Then look at some Ubisoft games...

I think you're talking about the large number of generic and very similar open world games that came out once the video game industry realized that was a profitable game type to release. There's a lot of unique and extremely fun open world games that have pioneered that category, but, like usual there's a lot of generic, fetch quest based open world games that get quite boring.

Yeah I am, they're essentially the 45 billion types of JRPGS that oversaturated the 90s

Unique open world games are the best. Can't imagine getting tired of infinite exploration

Ehh depends on the game/people you're playing with. I like RDR2 for the ambience and such - PVP is a joke though

It's not that open world games are bad. it's that they all are trying to be GTA/AssCreed. And most of them of them are not managing to be GTA/AssCreed.
It's the same as MMO fatigue - so many MMOS. only a handful of decent ones.
