I hate open world games, it's so boring, you can't just do the storyline without telling yoruself you are missing so many events

Rockstar Games made the Open-World genre the most likeable by many of us which resulted into many aspiring game developers into creating new ones with the same genre. Too bad, most of the new games are disappointingly full of trash details and copy pasted locations.

I dont think thats the fault of open world games so mcuh as it is the fault of companeis not knowing how to develop them. Open world games are great when the medium is utilized right like in GTA, where the storyline introduces you to the entire world and uses the scale in its mission gameplay.

I think Genshin Impact really was the last nail in the coffin for me. For a game that was supposed to be sold as such a large open world game and for them to just unload the Gacha functionality, not cool. I have been playing more FPS games recently since they're so much easier to manage lol

I love a great scripted narrative just like I love a great movie, but then only open-world gameplay can bring you those moments of pure coincidence that you remember forever. Those moments are admittedly rare, but when they happen they are unbelievably brilliant.

The older I get, the less time I have for open worlders. As a younger man, I enjoyed them but less so. Perhaps its the scale? Too much of a good thing? Something to ponder

At some point for me, open world games started to really feel like a sandbox and a giant waste of time. Even though there's a few out there that I'd love to be drawn into their world I just can't help but feel like I'm wasting my time in a digital sandbox.
