I like Notepad++ for quick edits. PhpStorm is great when you want to get your hands dirty and dive deep into a codebase. There are a ton of options and it takes a while to customise with a lot of great themes. It keeps getting better with every new version.

Imo Phpstorm is amazing, butif you just needto edit a single file I recommend vscode with intelliphense because Phpstorm takes sometime to boot.

Vscode is good if editor is good enough. If you need ide, then phpstorm is probably the best way to go.

I'm thinking of using PhpStorm by JetBrains (https://www.jetbrains.com/phpstorm/)

just wondering if anyone else has any IDEs they'd recommend for php?

Im using PHPStorm for 2 years and I feel its enough for everything I need.

I have been using php-storm myself for several years, features and performance are very good. Would recommend it.
Alternatively, netbeans would be a good choice, but it seems outdated in places. I'm coding mostly with the laravel framework.
