Did pewdiepie really saved Minecraft?

I honestly think it was the SMP crowd. Callmecarson, Jschlatt, Travis, etc... that brought minecraft back. But Pewdiepie did help get more hype.

Pewdiepie helped minecraft back in 2012 but he didn't really save minecraft. Memes and good updates are the reason why minecraft returned. Minecraft came back from memes because people would laugh at the memes. Minecraft started to have good updates during the Minecraft dark ages (2014-2017) Mojang was releasing terrible/ban-aid updates such as polar bears. Minecraft also had a bad wrap from various drama youtubers but since the drama youtubers have deceased Minecraft started to come back as a result.

I think the updates are the main factor why a lot of people came back to Minecraft. But he sure did help with bringing attention to the matter.

There was definitely a spike in players but I wouldn't say he saved it. He breathed air into a partially dying game. I really hope it doesn't completely die out anytime soon though :(
No matter what happens to Minecraft, I still enjoy it a ton with friends every once in a while.

Yes, he reintroduced Minecraft to people around the world and there is a lot of people straight up fell in love with Minecraft .
