Of course not! But they can cause sleep deprivation, isolation and bad eating habits.

I believe that video games are good for you in some aspects but bad in others

i don't think it's bad, but it can be. i grew up playing nintendo, and sometimes i'd have periods of binge playing but i turned out okay and not addicted or violent. on the other hand, someone i know (who also grew up playing video games) became addicted and dependent where they do nothing but play video games. it's affected their life and career because they don't go out at all. i asked them if they could go a week without it and they said no. i think that's a sign of addiction. they may be using it to cope with something.

some people take it out of control where they're practically living in their games but there isn't really any problem with them beyond that

No, they are good for you, there are good games, like puzzles that can be good for you, even normal games teach lessons.
