How to get people on your server

Alright make sure your server is actually good. If not don't name the server whatever your server name is yet. Why? Well then people will see the server in server list but see it is dead and avoid joining it in the future.


Now of course you need this:
* Website with a forum and store page.
* An ACTUAL good server that is optimized. Doesn't neccessarily have to be original. Some UI changes will do it.
* Discord server and Steam group.
* Friends to invite for the first time. Just plan 1 day where everything would be good (I suggest sunday) and get all your friends on, let them invite everyone.


And for further tips or suggestions feel free to contact me.
If you disagree with me first consider on what you are going to say. I ran a server for 2/3 years succesfully and made 1000GBP a month with only DarkRP. Which I assume he is running..

I have a couple people that make posts about it, spread over reddit, twitter, facebook, and a couple other places, it's been working fairly well for me so far, we have fairly dedicated group of people and new people every week that show up.

That's a perfect answer mate! I've been running asuccessful server for 1 year. As DreadBlue said,think about something that no one else has. For example add a poll addons, so your community can decide what kind of addons/weapons/playermodels etc etc they want to have.

Another fact, don't let people install addons for hours, I'd rather start small and if after some time an average amount ofpeople join your server then I'd think of adding more content.

Last but not least: promotion. Create a steam group, invite your friends, create a spray with your server information on it and so on, be creative!

Like they said, make some groups and try to tell everyone that u open'd a server. Try to give some new players something, to keep them on the Server.

What I usually do is offer different stuff from the usual servers, of course: if you're selling yourself, you'll need to do it like a peacock, show your feathers! I usually too call EVERYONE from my Steam to join the server and, in order to do this, I give a few rewards for the first joiners, such as some money or some other benefits which the gamemode might be able to offer; a lot of attention from your staff is required to the new players, so they get along well and understand everything the server may offer! Some modifications to the usual HUD or other stuffs that comes as standard from the gamemode might give a different look to your server - even if you don't have any, really. In my opinion, a friendly staff is the most important part of a server; and if you can cativate the playerbase by making them feeling themselves somehow important, they will stick with you loyally.

Thread might aswell be closed. He hasn't ever been a member of a DarkRP community himself lmao. He is probably to young to host something and has no idea how a community works in general.
