True, desktop if you work at home a lot, since you get much more bang for your $.

I work in 3D so a PC is veeery necessary. Changed my work for the better by a LOT...

I think laptop is really good, but if you are looking for AMAZING performances and the possibility to upgrade your performances at any times, then I recommend to have a computer.

A laptop is really good cause, depending on the laptop, you can have all you need with you anytime you need it

Both can be equally useful, in the end, I'd say it really depends more on your use-case for that computer.
Of course, some people tend to prefer laptops even if they only stay at home, to each their own

I use both. I have a super crappy slow pc that i use to download torrents and other stuff that can contain virusses and i have a decent laptop (i7, gtx 960m, 16gb ram) that i use for photoshop and recording music.
