If the slowness is due to the image loading I advise you to use a CDN, I use imgix that has 3 months free and loads the images in an absurdly fast way. But you can use the Amazon cloudfront or the jetpack CND itself.
If the problem is with the scripts or with the css better they compact them intelligently since some can cause instability in your site when minified. It would be good to use clodflare or others

You can use gtmetrix.com to analyze your website. It also has some important help and documentations for wordpress sites too . Sometimes your html /css code should be optimized .

Empty recycle bin, clear cache, if you're on a budget host move to a more reliable host that has better hardware.

I m using w3 total cache and it works fine for me. Got 91 Google pagespeed rating. What matters is simply use a single program or plugin for a single task for example, if I wanted to optimize my image for faster loading I would check speed with jetpack or other plugins at a time but not together(eww image plugin works great for my site), reduce javasript, css code flow, minimize them(you can do it at w3 plugin itself). One more thing, if you are using cdn service; check the settings over there if the same has been activated in the dashboard settings. Hope for your good speed, G'luck

Analyze your site, it'll tell you what to improve
- https://gtmetrix.com/, https://tools.pingdom.com/

Optimize your images (size, using plugins, etc)

Use cache plugins

Use cdn (cloudflare is free)

There's many reasons of website being slow.

It's either the server-side or client-side. You can check how long your script load time by putting some timer. Try google "Measuring PHP Page Load Time"
