i think its just a kindof nostalgia. people who played it back then came back after years to try it out again

I think his series helped minecraft grow quicker and receive a bunch more quick publicity, but I don't think it is a game that is capable of simply dying off or anything. It's been growing in popularity for years and hasn't really seen any decline.
