Single page is like a landing page, means not enough. You should have multiple page for your website so all that pages will be indexed by google.

Single page websites are nice as landing pages, I use them for my different game servers. Plop a couple of buttons in it, some stats maybe, not too much. General info is all you need.

Single pages are great. I use them when ever i can. You can use the smooth scrolling to get to your sections and then link those sections out to individual pages depending on the content. So your index page would give a huge over view of everything but also link to your specific pages if needed. Most work can be done with a single page layout

If your website is made only with one page, then its good to add a link into it that leads to other website. Also if u r making small websites where you dont need too much organisation. I have never tried one page by myself.

I had to make few of those, nah for me it's good for portfolios and representation but not for business.

Mainly because loading time is increased if not done properly (ajax request on scroll or smh like that)
design itself become one piece, hard to re imagine it.

It all depends on what you want to do with it! If you want to go up in the search engines you have to create quality content!

It depends on what it's going to be used for.

If you're wanting to just have a single page for like an advertisement then yeah sure, other than that I don't know about single pages.

To add: Most advertisement sites don't do too well. AdWords, Facebook, Instagram are usually your go to.

If not at all related to an advertisement site then I would vote against the use of a single page website.

Single page designs are good for product landers but are not good for SEO and competitive niche.

Be wise and get multi page website as an SEO expert i can really suggest you this as many of my clients have done this one-page website mistake. I know it looks good but it doesn't work good.

It depends on who it is for.
A single page is good for a professional of new startup company with not a whole lot to say.
I make them kind of like presentations so that they don't look like a single page site but keep the user involved in the website.
The best part of single page sites is that they load fast and you need to be concise on what you say.
Using some of the JS+CSS frameworks like webslides.tv, reveal.js, etc. you can do a lot of creative work on single page sites.
