I wouldn't say that it's safe necessarily, try Telegram.

Yes and No.

Whatsapp messages are encrypted so that means no one can become a middle man and read them. Not your government, not your ISP etc. They would have to hack your phone to do it so you are weak point not whatsapp.

On the other hand they are owned by Facebook so you can be damn sure they are using all your chats for some sort of advertising and will also hand your data over to authorities if needed be.

As with any messaging service, someone else can see. Its as safe as what you're sending. Be careful!

Messages?Yes,WhatsApp automatically protects them by end-to-end encryption. This means that only you and the receiver of the can read the message or listen to the call.

WhatsApp I would say is pretty safe. It's owned by Facebook so if you trust Instagram or Facebook I believe they would just as secure as those. However, if you want to keep the most secure conversations then I would use Signal.
I second this. Whatsapp used to be good. Signal has taken that place.
