No, unless you let someone into your group chat, nobody can.

The whatsapp encryption seem safe, but you can't delete your whatsapp messages.
You may end up sending the wrong stuff to the wrong person... then you're screwed.
I prefer telegram by far

For me, whatsapp is pretty safe. But as this person says i feel that facebook kinda reads through for keywords and connect it to instagram, etc.

An example that happened the other day was: i was talking about Community (the show) with some friends and all of a sudden my instagram explore page exploded with community memes, posts, cast updates, and all that jazz.

I truly think facebook reads the messages but i dont have another good messaging system to talk to friends.

I mean is anything really perfectly safe online? There are always seems to be work arounds on apps and people waiting to exploit them.

This depends on your definition of safety. I presume you mean with regards to privacy of your messages...as I understand it they cannot be read by anyone but yourself or the ricipient, unless you are in a group chat in which case they are not encrypted! Unless they changed that recently but I don't think so.

I also assume that they have some way of gaining access via an encryption key/back door in cases tof "national security". Being in the US the servers/data can be subpoenaed.
