Whatsapp is fine for now after Elon mentioned Signal and later they made the chances accordingly and we are back to normal. But for long run I would prefer Signal of course because of open source.

Everything that comes from facebook Ic, of course it is not safe. Remember that for these companies to be who they are today, they need competition agreements signed with the NSA, FBI, etc.

It is not a secret for anyone that they can see when they want those who talk to your friends, your contacts, calls, etc.

I prefer safer alternatives like telegram.
For the most paranoid, wanting more security or trying something new, I recommend Matrix or Siganl, (preferably the first)
