Honestly if youre talking about rock like the music that used to get made and sounds the way it does then yes it's dead but that's good. Music styles, tastes, and trends evolve over time and it would be bad if it didnt because then all music would just sound the same forever. Rap has overtaken rock as the anti-establishment genre. If youre looking for stuff that sounds similar to old school rock though then you should look into lo-fi alternative and folk.

Rock n Roll is alive inside of us. I still listen to rock music, but when it comes to the form of music currently it has involved greatly in the past decade.. I don't like modern day 'pop' rock..

It all depends on what you classify as rock.

70s and 80s rock band styles are few and far between. 90s early 2000s soft/pop rock is everywhere now just more synthed/processed. Hard/heavy rock has to be found, only a few bands manage to make it to the charts outside of dedicated stations.

But there are bands like Starset, Wolves at the Gate, Blind Channel, Late Night Savior, Stealing Eden, Digital Summer still bringing hard rock to the world.

There are bands like, Beartooth, Violent New Breed, The Raven Age, I Prevail, Surrender the Crown, and Bad Wolves bringing heavy rock.

The Discrepancies, Riverline, From Ashes to New bring Rap rock.

Its all still out there

in youth i imagined music would advance to mind-destroying levels of quality. instead the best stuff ever recorded was 50 years ago now. what they call quality now is for shit. the production that goes into most of the music on top40 radio sounds like a kid in their basement with a drum machine and a moog keyboard that can play 1 note at a time. the quality of lyrics is gone too. rock is not dead but its in deep hibernation

not at all. there are some great new bands, however...there are no good songs. all what is popular today is driven by money makin machine, and rules which if you'are breaking you can make good music and die poorly. so musician instead choose living by making shit what will sell and get money for it. to be honest i would do the same.

Definitely not. If anything, rock is in the best place it's ever been since it's mostly underground which means people make it not for money but for the love of music. There is some amazing stuff, you just have to look for it. Check out these guys from NZ Smile
